Absolutely my favorite place in Costa Rica, I spent nearly a week at a hostel in malpais. A walk thru the 300 yards of jungle before you reach the beach with a surf break. The only building on the beach itself was one bar. Great place. They also had nightly entertainment, a fire show.
During my days there, I met many global travelers that also seemed to stay longer than they first anticipated.
