The HOTEL CASA TURIRE-TURRIALBA was awesome, small and romantic. Had a great couple of nights there.
In Quepos, the Plinio (Treehouse) is an awesome place

To: Why I left Four Seasons off my favorite hotels? The Four Seasons is the most amazing and amazingly expensive place in all of Costa Rica. I love it, but why pay $1,000 per night when you can do Costa first class on $100 per night? ??

RE: “Please give me a few suggestions of things we must see and do. We both love the water and active adventures. Will be there 7 days.”

You have to visit Tabacon Springs in the Airenal Volcano. You must go on the longest zipline in the world and I would then make sure to go canyoning (repelling down waterfalls). From there, fly to Quepos, to visit Manuel Antonio, the most visited national park in the country. Finally, drive down the south past Dominical to Pavones to surf the longest left hand wave in the world!

Pura Vida!!! Bret

Great question; I’ve become very adept at getting to Costa from San Diego quickly and on Short notice. The first question you need to ask yourself is “do I mind red-eye flights?" If the answer is no problem then the two best options are Flying on Frontier airlines from SD to Denver then direct to San Jose. The other good option is to take the Amtrak to LAX and fly direct on Taca airlines to San Jose. Those two flights are the fastest, most efficient way to get there from the west coast.

Now, if you don’t mind flying longer, American, Delta, Continental, and many other airlines connect Through Houston. Furthermore if you are flying into Liberia (Always the more expensive option) then you will look to the same airlines with fewer options. For those of you flying from anywhere other than the west coast, there are 16 US cities that fly direct to San Jose. From Miami it’s 2.5 hours, Houston, 3.5 NY 4.5, Chicago 4 hours.

Hi Bret,

Thanks for the update on the hotels. I noticed you did not list the Four Seasons which I have heard is amazing. Is there a reason it was left off your favorites?

Please give me a few suggestions of things we must see and do. We both love the water and active adventures. Will be there 7 days.

I also need the best surf spots for a very good surfer.

Appreciate all your help.
