Foreigners Choose Costa Rica De-Stress

Each year up to 280.000 foreigners choose Costa Rica to de-stress, taking refuge in hotels and resorts for activities like yoga, thermal baths, therapeutic massages and good nutrition, according to a report by the Spanish language newspaper, La Nación.

The report indicates that the majority are from the United States and between the ages of 25 and 65, executives or manage a successful career in different fields.

The number of visitors coming to Costa Rica to rejuvinate is estimated by the Ministerio de Competitividad, which is heading the move to promote medical tourism in Costa Rica.

Mariamalia Revelo, marketing director of the Instituto Costarricense de Turismo (ICT) – Costa Rican tourism institute – explained that this type of tourist leaves more cash behind and are committed to environmental sustainability in the country.

Revelo said that this type of tourist spends between us$300 and us$400 daily, while the other tourists
